On September 26, the little assembly in Obregon turned two years old! Shawn St. Clair gave some excellent ministry meetings. Assembly life here is not much different from anywhere else - up's and down's, the human factor, yet the assurance the work belongs to and depends on Someone else. Good that it is so! "Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it!" There are, at the moment, about fifteen locals in fellowship. One or two house meetings are carried on, sometimes only by the local men.
We are glad of Dee Deblock (Sarnia) and Rachel Gull (Garnavillo) helping here at the moment with children's work, young people, and visits among saved and unsaved alike.
Last weekend, Debi and I went with two vehicles to the conference in Tepic, nearly six hundred miles south. Believers from Hermosillo and Obregon went with us. For some, it was their first conference. Such experiences are like a sparkplug. We are grateful for no accidents, breakdowns, or security risks (that we were aware of), not to mention the good word of God ministered by various brethren. One highlight was a brother from Los Angeles who came with twenty-seven relatives. He rented a bus to bring them and housed them at a hotel. They hail from three towns. Some have been waiting patiently for someone to come and work with them in the gospel.
We are thankful for new works in various places over the last twelve months: Iguala, Mexico City, Toluca, Tarandacuao, Guasave, the country village of Abelardo L. Rodriguez, Nogales. In three of these places, souls have professed. A woman in a country village professed two years ago during a visit to Obregon. In Iguala there are seven baptized. There are contacts in other places we have not been able to reach. The lack of workers is heartbreaking. However, just as only God can save, only He can "send forth labourers into His harvest."
We highly value the place we have in your prayers. Thanks for your faithfulness at the throne! "Blessed be the Lord our God who daily loadeth us with benefits" or: "Who daily carries our burdens!" God surely does both!
